Ward County Oil Production Holds Steady Amid State Decline
Ward County, a longtime producer since 1928, yielded nine million barrels of crude oil in 1977 at about 24 199 bpd, keeping its 1977 total at 553 million barrels. The state’s overall output fell for the year to just over 1.1 billion barrels, while Gregg County led accumulation with 2.6 billion through 1977. H B Harkins, Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association president, blames price controls and calls for more development drilling and recovery projects to stabilize production and reduce imports.
