Ward declares unlawful to let animals roam public or private

Wardendeclares it is unlawful to allow any animal or reptile to run at large on any public place or private propery. All animals within the city limits are to be restrained either by leashes or by fences. If a dog can jump a fence the fence is essentially not there. A securely grounded stake with a ring offers restraint when a fence is unavailable. A run works like a clothesline with posts and a wire. A long leash to the line permits dog movement without entanglement. There is an ordinance against leaving animals unprotected from weather. Whoever feeds a stray is considered the owner for city purposes. If a stray dog appears, call us to pick it up.
