Pecos boosters in a goodwill motorcade promoting the Pecos rodeo and Jackrabbit Derby July 3-4 stopped in Monahans Tuesday afternoon. The Pecos High School band played on Main Street while H P Davis of the Chamber of Commerce welcomed them. The group toured with a State Highway Patrol escort, noting Monahans gave the only official welcome.

Joe Mills, a Chevrolet dealer in Monahans and Colorado, drew wide publicity last week for a national Chevrolet advertisement titled Chevrolet Owner Loyalty. Baby Lee Edwards Dies of Pneumonia
Baby Lee Edwards nine months old son of Mr and Mrs Jack Edwards died Friday morning in a local hospital of pneumonia. Services were held Saturday at the Methodist Church and interment followed at Sweetwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Finch C F Butcher and Fred A Robinson. The child lay in state Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs Edwards parents Dr and Mrs Paul Hamilton of Sweetwater. Survived by brother Trey and grandparents Mr and Mrs John H Edwards of Monahans and Dr and Mrs Hamilton.

City Court Records May Convictions Rise to Eighty
City hall records show eighty convictions in May at the city police court. Drunkness led with fifty nine cases, gambling six, speeding five, reckless driving four, vagrancy three, affray two, and disturbing the peace the rest. About half paid fines. others did manual labor until fines were cleared. One time twenty prisoners occupied the local jail cell, a record noted by Chief W A Fields.

Two Men Die in Highway Collision Near Wink
A car collided with a pipe laden truck on the Wink highway ten miles north of town early yesterday morning killing two men instantly and badly injuring a third. Joe White 50 a tool dresser for Charlesworth Drilling Co and L M Watkins 21 a druggist at a Kermit drug store died. F A Mullins 34 of Kermit is in serious condition. The crash occurred at 2 30 am details were unavailable. The truck driver was uninjured. Funeral plans were pending for White and Watkins.
