Dedication of First Presbyterian Church Building in Monahans
A sunset ceremony marked the formal dedication of the First Presbyterian Church of Monahans building site. Eighty two participants drove in a support plank for the $5,000 structure north and east of the new high school. The service recalled the church’s 1937 origin with 57 charter members and highlighted faith as the building’s foundation. Mrs. Allen Forsythe led the organizing effort as clerk of the session and Auxiliary president, previously Brownwood Presbytery president.

The Monahans Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor T. J. Tidwell Shows in their Annual Firemen Festival next week. Tidwell says this year’s show is the largest in twelve years with the midway featuring Ridee-o and the Octupus, rides scarce in the region. Baptists Add Many Members In Their Revival Campaign
Fourty four members were added to the local Baptist church after a fourteen day revival led by Rev. W. M. Turner with music by Rev. Dee Carpenter.
