An attempted robbery of the Rock Island fast train as it left Muscatine station led to three arrests and jailing. The suspects, who refused to name themselves, claimed Moline residence but the names listed did not appear in the directory. Two more men were caught by trainmen while prying the express car door and later turned over to Muscatine officers. The three later admitted names William Long, Thomas Murphy, James Bohen and said they only sought a ride, not a robbery.
