Severely Wounded in France Marine Colonel Albertus Wright Catlin

Marine Corps Colonel Albertus Wright Catlin born December 1, 1868 in Gofanda New York is severely wounded in France. Naval Academy graduate 1890 commanded USS Maine at Havana in 1898 and served in the Philippines Hawaii and Cuba. He helped in the Vera Cruz operation April 22 1914 and later led the Quantico marine barracks after May 1917.

Secretary Baker spoke to 137 United States Military Academy graduates at West Point New York. He said over a million American soldiers would soon be in France and urged officers to lead the nation to a victorious peace while remaining ready for future conflict.
