A British steamer reported by wireless SOS being attacked by a German submarine off the Virginia capes and later sinking. The Keemun, 9000 tons, was mentioned in Navy Department notes as under investigation with details lacking.
Washington notes 181 names in today’s war department casualty list. Killed in action 29, died of wounds 5, disease 6, accident 3, missing 5, wounded 76 with 1 degree undetermined. Marine corps losses include 8 killed and 6 dead from wounds, 48 severely wounded. Names from the South include Mincy and Williams among others. American advance at Marne sectors shows progress toward Chateau Thierry line with German assault repulsed. reports cite heavy German losses and retreat by storm troops.
Paris June 14 The Germans have been checked on the Montdidier Oise front and along the Aisne Marne line. Heavy fighting continues at many points but German attempts to advance were repelled. French fire blocked German gains between Courcelles and Mery northeast of Montdidier. Germans held along the Oise by wooded patches which the French fortify as artillery harasses them.
British report successful raids overnight in Neuville Vitesse Givenchy Lens and La Bassée sectors. A German attack near Merris this morning was repulsed. Heavy artillery activity reported in Villers-Brettenneux sector and along the Scarpe river.
The county draft board will send ten selective service men to Auburn and Baton Rouge for a special course of instruction along mechanical lines. City Board No. 1 sends four men to Baton Rouge and Auburn, including J E De Allen and Joseph W Weber.
The war department reports two complete American divisions under American commanders are facing German forces on the Western front. The rest of the American forces in France remain brigaded with French and British units. Officials expect five full divisions with artillery and aviation contingents to be in action soon.

Twenty five soldiers from Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines will be naturalized this afternoon in Bienville Square in a patriotic ceremony led by Circuit Judge Norville R. Leigh. C P Springer of the National pool room in Mobile was arrested after noon today by Deputy Marshal EB 8 Tunstall Jr on a warrant charging a violation of the espionage act. He will have a preliminary hearing at 8 30 this evening before U S Commissioner J Irwin Burgett. He denies making disloyal statements and cites his army son and Confederate veteran father. The warrant charges false statements tending to interfere with military or naval operations.
Papers certifying the dissolution were filed in probate court today by company stockholders Frank W. Boykin president Mrs Ohlo G Boykin John Everett and John B Connaughton.
