Smooth Swindler Preys on Chillicothe Merchants
A crafty con man posing as a glove cleaner salesman deceived Chillicothe and nearby merchants by showing fake letters from druggists and a bogus one year advertisement contract. One west side druggist bought six dozen packages for about five dollars each before the scheme was uncovered. Local merchants warned surrounding towns to beware of the fraud.

Tragic death after railroad jump near Jefferson Street
Ray Fleming found a man badly injured near the Wabarh trace east of Jefferson Street crossing. The stranger, identified as J. F. L. Doury of Owensboro Kentucky, died about two hours after arrival at the city hospital. He said he rode an east bound Wabash freight at 9 pm intending to jump. He claimed a wife and five children and that he came from Kansas City to work on a Madison farm.
