Maitre Labori, leading counsel for Captain Dreyfus, was ambushed and shot in Rennes while en route to court. The bullet struck him in the back, then stomach, with reports differing on exact wound location. His condition remained serious but hopeful as physicians treated him.

Boy Run Over by Train Survives Narrowly

Louie Fiorita, 4 year old son of Nick Fiorita a fruit vendor near the depot, slipped while playing on hopping cars. An engine passed over him but he escaped serious harm. his mates still marvel at the daring incident.

St Charles Lonus Roughs Out Richmond In Nine Inning Tilt

A large crowd from St Charles and Richmond watched Randolph Springs host a tense nine inning game. Richmond defeated St Charles 4 to 1 with Bartee of Moberly starring at third and delivering errorless defense. Battery mates were Gibson and Woods for Richmond and Wallace and Staunton for St Charles.

Industrious man overheated and taken to jail after violence

Dick Kitchen Towana and Diel Kitchen, residents near Mrs. Abington’s on Thompson Street, overheated at work Saturday. Tresu, going insane, was taken to the city jail where he became violent. He tore at his clothing and later suffered fits, appearing in a terrible sight this morning.

Sewing Machine Giveaway At Local Fair

The Mob erly fair directors bought a sixty dollar Singer sewing machine and will give it to the holder of the lucky number during the fair. The machine is described as the best money can buy and may be seen at the Singer’s office on North Williams street. Ladies and all others interested are urged to participate.

Young Man Hit By Train Near Buffalo Express

George Collier, about 23, was struck Saturday night by No 3 near the yard office. He survived the impact but is grievously wounded, taken to a room above Marlin & Finn’s. He gave his name and said his parents live in Carrollton, with his mother dead and father at Leavenworth. He had just been released from Missouri Penitentiary for larceny two months ago. His injuries are severe and recovery doubtful.

Narrow escape near Moberly after buggy overturns

Four miles west of Moberly a buggy overturned while crossing a stream as a group including Miss Nelille Burton, Ollie Burton, Bert Curry, and two young men returned from a picnic. The occupants were thrown into the water but rescued by help from Placis, D0d, and others. All escaped unharmed though soaked.

Dying in Dallas, Wa. Holtsinger received a telegram from Dallas, Texas this morning conveying the news that his nephew Fred McDavit, about 24 years old, was dying. He made his home here for many years and was well known to our people.

The ring operators and miners of Jones and Davis coal mine failed to reach an agreement as announced. Miners remain at work stoppage and prospects for an early return to work are slim.
