Pleasant Ridge social raises funds for pastor’s salary

Pleasant Ridge young ladies hosted their third social, clearing 329 toward pastor Sage’s annual 860 salary. The day school under Miss M. E. Wright has twelve pupils and growing, with reports of good hours and strict order. Mrs Nabinger sold cucumber pickles worth over 310 and stored eighty-four gallons. September 26 saw a Sunday school review by Mr J. B. Ewart, who gave a farewell address. An October 2 preaching at 11 by Rev. Sage and a Pine schoolhouse quarterly meeting on October 1 and 2 were announced. A mush and milk supper drew about thirty neighbors, with Miss M Wright as captain and several friends in colorful outfits. Fred the horse died after a brief illness. A surprise party for Mr J B Ewart drew about forty, ending with a fine lunch and social visits.
