A large Mitchell crowd attended a Friday recital at the Dakota Wesleyan auditorium opening the season. New Mitchell instructors Miss Bernice Frost and Miss Marta Eddy impressed, with Ms Frost performing Chopin and Liszt and Miss Eddy Staub. Prof George Harold Miller and violinist Whitney Morris received strong notices, as Mrs Morris accompanied several numbers. The evening showcased local talent and welcomed two new faculty members.

Nearly two hundred bridge players filled 48 tables at the Elk’s club ball room Friday for a Red Cross fundraiser in Mitchell. Admission fees left 105 dollars for the Red Cross finance committee after the event, praised as the largest bridge party in local history. Mrs. Frank Winsor opened the program, and dollies made by the Mitchell Art club were sold to aid the Red Cross. Thelma Cassem sang a solo, backed by six young girls dressed as Red Cross nurses. Twelve nurse costumes sold 37 dollars worth of dolls before auction bridge closed the evening at 10:30 p.m.
