Judge Walts Dead in Sioux Falls at 61
Cyrus Watts, 61, respected judge of the local court, died at his Sioux Falls home from liver cancer. A pioneer of Dakota, he moved from Yankton in 1869 to Sioux Falls in 1870 and served as clerk of courts, county superintendent of schools, and county surveyor. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon under the local Masonic lodge.

Tony A. Schumacher of Roberts County and Peter Kinney near Aurora suffered major losses from a fire. Schumacher lost a barn granary an imported horse four other horses barley millet hay and more valued over 3000 with only 700 insured. Kinney lost a barn and all its contents including four horses and farm machinery with about 1800 bushels of barley. The blaze is believed to have been sparked by lightning.
