Postoffice Building Nears Completion in Mitchell

Sheriff Kerr has letters suggesting Burgess is wanted elsewhere including a report from A J Ikemire of Louisville Illinois that Burgess was indicted for forgery and has a wife there. He reportedly uses the alias Bert Dawson.

Farmer fires at moving corn fatally wounding daughter
Otsego Michigan dated Sept 2 Duncan Swan a well known farmer residing north of the village accidentally shot his daughter Mary yesterday and she died last night from the wound. Swan believed crows were in the corn and fired a shotgun at the moving stalks. She died after being found with a breast wound while gathering corn for dinner. Swan is nearly crazed.
