Cyclone injures Horner family as house destroyed

Freaks Of A Cyclone Near Wessington
A cyclone seventeen miles south of Wessington produced odd wreckage. Mrs Horner ironed beside a hot stove as the house tipped and the stove slid. water and hail were swept in by the wind. The house then collapsed. their dog died, the baby vanished from her grip but was later found unharmed under debris. A duck’s head was torn off, and an 18 inch steel plow was carried forty rods and dropped in a grove of trees.
Ancient Powder Horn Roars Through Sioux Falls Exhibit
In Sioux Falls the two century old powder horn owned by Wrank Linebeck of Hartford is on display at the Masonic library. Dr. A. H. Tufts arranged the loan from Linebeck after a Hartford visit, noting the horn bears inscription about Fort Ticonderoga Lake George July 5 1759 credited to Seth Bullock and a turtle shaped fort diagram.

W B Tobey postmaster of Ethan S D sues the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul Railroad for 15200 for the loss of his son’s arm after a September accident. The case eyed for hearing in Mitchell circuit court last fall and now to be tried or moved to the federal court at Sioux Falls during fall term with J J Spangler of Mitchell representing the plaintiff and Preston Hannet for the railroad. The youth was riding a tack car struck by a switching car in Mitchell yards, thrown to the track, narrowly escaping death.
