Consolidation urged to cope with rural teacher shortage
In Sanborn county the county superintendent promotes consolidating scattered country schools to two central locations. With about eighty pupils per township and four to five now taught, a central school and transported attendance could lower costs and improve instruction. If teacher scarcity persists, consolidation may be forced.
