A Sioux Falls letter argues Mitchell offers $250,000 value in twenty acres for a state capitol while Pierre presents costly site purchase claims. The writer claims Mitchell provides better overall value, cites bank deeds, and questions Pierre’s incentives and fairness to farmers.
The Davison county Republican ticket presents E. J. Haynes for treasurer O. D. Stearns for auditor C. O. Walphide for register of deeds S. Cattrell for clerk Judge Abbey for probate judge and Dr Dundas for coroner. The editorial praises their past two years of service and urges retention as capable, ethical county officers.

The Northwestern railway plans to fill a baggage car with crops from the Black Hills and run it east as a Pierre advertisement. The author argues the Black Hills are not part of Pierre territory and notes higher rainfall and irrigated traits there, warning against misrepresenting regional products as plains West of Pierre.
Yankton Press and Dakotana reports Jonas Gleich and a party from Lakeport returned from Pierre where Gleich criticized Pierre politics and the capital committee. He promotes Mitchell as preferred capital over Pierre and questions local vegetation and soil remarks while noting Gleich is a Huron man.
A large turnout from Day and surrounding counties visited Mitchell yesterday. Claremont and Andover bands performed splendid music at the corn palace and on the streets. The afternoon concert drew 2,900 attendees with Prof. Barry of Dakota University as a featured violin soloist. H. C. Preston spoke on Mitchell's claims, followed by A. K E Hitchcock whose remarks were well received. M. L. Fox of Vermillion spoke on prospects for Mitchell in the Black Hills, predicting strong support, as the evening program featured Miss Richards and Miss Lathrop in musical numbers.
