King Takes Over Scotland Electric Light Plant
C King of Scotland told a Republican reporter this morning that he now owns the electric light plant and that the electric light company will pass from existence to become the Mitchell Gas Co. He favored gas lighting for constant availability and lower cost, noted acetylene stoves are pricey and less heat efficient, and said a new stove, to be marketed next spring, will extract more heat units from acetylene than coal gas. He also said current for power would not yet justify expanding the plant for power supply given the city size and potential users.
