Ralph Kershaw was discharged from county jail after a jury found him not guilty of receiving stolen property linked to a December 26 1896 case. At six o'clock last evening a dozen friends gathered at Mrs John Walrath's home for dinner. Mrs Walrath presided with grace while guests including Mrs Hammer Mrs Smith Mrs Logan Mrs Sibby and others were seated. The table was prettily decorated and the event featured a list of sixty questions about popular books for playful entertainment. Conversations and games followed, enhancing Mrs Walrath's reputation as a charming hostess.
About 30 to 40 young people attended an evening of sociability hosted by Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Nichols. Refreshments were served and, after, the rooms were cleared for dancing to Geiger's orchestra, providing an enjoyable close to the evening for the guests.
The W C T U plans to send a box to the Childrens Home at Sioux Falls and requests clothing bedding food and money from the public. The reading room will be open Monday afternoon and Tuesday forenoon for contributions. It is hoped there will be a generous response.
An inspection of the city water works shows it in first class shape under Engineer Joan Roth. She takes personal pride in keeping the system in good repair and working order. With a new boiler brick smoke stack and enlarged engine room the facility is in good condition.
