Sunday Storm Ravages Towns as Mitchell Barely Recovers

A Sunday storm unleashed fierce winds and heavy rain, flooding streets and causing widespread damage. In Mitchell a 70-foot well tower collapsed, timber and chimneys were blown away, and a significant oil of debris slowed cleanup. Lightning struck homes near Alexandria, and a drowning occurred near the same area. Bridges, barns, and boards were ruined across several townships, with water gauges recording record rainfall. The storm left crops unharmed but disrupted daily life and infrastructure.
