Forest fires swept over the northwestern part of Washington causing multiple fatalities and two men missing. Property damage runs to hundreds of thousands with four logging camps destroyed in Skagit County and fifteen million feet of timber lost there. Total timber destroyed statewide reaches about 70 million feet as fires remain uncontrolled in places though conditions show some improvement.
