Jobless Army Parades Through South Dakota Bound for Washington

About 125 unemployed men calling themselves the unemployed passed through Mobridge South Dakota last night en route to Washington DC. Aberdeen Captain Kelley and 64 IWW members arrive today in two freight cars bound for the capital after brief stops in Miles City Montana and Marmarth North Dakota. Police prepare for any unrest as the column travels via St Paul and Chicago on the Milwaukee line.

Gen Conklin Badly Scalded During Sanatorium Bath

Mrs. S. J. Conklin left for Hot Springs after a report that Gen. S. J. Conklin was severely scalded in a government sanatorium bath. A mistaken switch from cold to hot water caused injuries almost cooking his skin and muscles from the neck down. He recently celebrated his 85th birthday.

Vermillion South Dakota May 18 1914 The State Food and Drug Department under Commissioner Guy H Frary designates Saturday June 6 1914 as Rooster Day to curb heated eggs blood fingers and chick rats and protect egg quality The notice urges removing roosters from flocks until November 1 and recommends roast chicken on June 7 with extra inspectors and statewide posters and circulars to enforce the law against bad eggs.
