In Bliek Wis today about five thousand people joined a jubric marked by a parade of civilian and military groups through business streets. Twenty one guns fired as a mass meeting at a local park featured Mayor N. Franklin and Lt. Governor UO. McMasters addressing the crowd before a concert by five bands.
Lieutenant Charles H Jones adjutant of the Second Battalion Fourth South Dakota Infantry received word from the War Department that he passed the examination for second lieutenant in the regular army and the commission will be forwarded within days. A Mitchell Wish school graduate and former University of Minnesota engineering student, he has served seven years rising from private to first sergeant before taking the exam at Brownsville Texas while with the Minnesota forces on the Mexican border.
Newport News May 16 Ten Hequembours instructor and Lawrence Girtlis of Boston were injured when the flying boat banked too sharply and fell 60 to 75 feet at the Atlantic coast aeronautical station. The same week a crash killed Victor Carlstrom and Carey Epes, students, in a prior accident.

Depots Kolin warned Germany would bear great moral responsibility if no action is taken.
May 16. Aberdeen hosts a Red Cross organizing meeting at the Commercial Club. Over 100 sign the roll and officers elected include Chairman Hoot Jewett and secretary Mrs. Whlidis. More than 200 women plan to join Red Cross work. Pierre reports Phillip herd buffalo purchase for Lions Falls park.

Fire at the quartermaster’s building caused damage. Cause unknown. Bodies possibly blown into St. Marys River. several missing.
Representative Nusustus P. Gardner of Massachusetts resigns from Congress to enter the army as a reserve officer. A longtime advocate of military preparedness and a son in law of Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Gardner leaves as the first member of either house to quit government for military service in the current war.
Dr. Paul Ritter Swiss minister who oversaw German interests in the United States will depart Washington for The Hague after a successor is appointed. The redeployment is viewed by diplomats as a promotion and aims to establish a new Swiss legation at The Hague.
London’s Soho district reports a week without spaghetti as imports and machinery delayed supply. An Italian resort operator sets up a macaroni factory and produces long ribbons called macaroni while awaiting spaghetti making equipment from Italy.
Residents of Scotland and the Milwaukee railway company reach a truce to secure an order from the state board of railroad commissioners for a new depot. The company cites wartime labor shortages and agrees to erect the building within eighteen months after the war ends.

St Paul dispatch reports Joseph Redenbaugh will waive extradition and travel from San Francisco to St Paul for trial over the murder of Mrs. Alice Dunn after police confession. The move follows authorities stating the case against him.
The wheat market fell today under yesterday regulations. September wheat opened with a 17 cent drop to 2.041 dollars, 44 cents below the board of trade adjustment price.
