Marshall May 12 Garret Dewinkel was taken to Stillwater for a nine year sentence after pleading guilty to second degree manslaughter in the July 4 1886 killing of Jerome Swift. The case involved defense by Lind and Forbes with Seward prosecuting. the act was ruled self defense by the defendant, and Judge Webber imposed the sentence. Dewinkel, born in Ireland in 1858, moved to Lyon County three years ago.
