Brawn and Brain at Mitchell May Intercollegiate Meet
Mitchell hosts a major intercollegiate event May 18 and 19 with athletics and oratory on the program. Students from Brookings Vermillion Yankton and other towns arrive by special train. bands from Brookings Vermillion perform, and contests include baseball hammer throw and track events. The event culminates with the oratorical contest at Grand Opera House and is paired with the South Dakota Intercollegiate Y M C A and Y W C A convention.

Under Willis Bass direction the Home Dramatic Valent company presented the five act drama Unknown at the Grand Opera House last night. A large audience approved the meritorious performance as the plot centers on plotting against the hero and heroine and includes a scene aboard a ship as Unknown takes passage home.

Decoration Day Observance Arrangements By Grand Army Post
The Grand Army post is arranging Decoration Day events with Memorial services on the preceding Sunday likely at the Methodist church and an address by Rev. A C Stevens. George A Silsby will deliver the Decoration Day address, chosen to honor soldiers, with local funding efforts underway. T J Blanchard returned to Pierre and Mrs Blanchard will stay a week longer.
