Prairie Fire Threatens Farm near town in Perry township
The first prairie fire of the season nearly burned Louis LaFortune's farm eight miles north of town. A tenant burning a straw stack caused flames to sweep toward the house and barn, but neighbors Fred Ticlshire and wife saved the residence. Several horses were scorched but saved, and five stacks of hay burned. Sam Webber's hay land burned and a tree claim was spared by a wide stubble area. Cautions about firebreaks and careful burning were urged.
