Good Races at the Driving Park Meet
Thursday races at the Driving Park attracted a solid crowd and a strong program. Glador won the half mile match over Nichols' Mrs Capt Murphy after the mare struck a shoe and injured hoof early. Nichols hopes another race, but Mernaugh’s camp is hesitant. Minnah Dell won the special half mile heats against Frank Jr Charity and Chestnut. Knave led in the free-for-all, with Pearl and Topsy placing. Charley Fewel, driven by H G Aiken, posted a 2 16 gait and strides toward a 2 1/4 minute mark. purchased by McCartney and Logan, he bears watching this season.

Mitchell Club Defeats Marquettes in Chicago Exhibition
The Mitchell club defeated the Marquettes of Chicago 14 to 8 in a late practical show of strength as Robinson pitched six strikeouts and Freeze caught well. The game featured tight defense with few errors, and organizers plan another match with the Marquettes in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Sunday, July 29.
