Died of Consumption In Mitchell Residence
S Willison died at his home 207 East Sixth Street Thursday night aged 69 after a long illness from consumption. He leaves a wife and six children. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 oclock at the residence with music by Miss Blanche Turneaure and organ by Mrs. C. C. Halphide, conducted by Rev. Harry Gunderson. Burial followed at Graceland cemetery.

Mitchell shows a strong talent lineup for the Big Stone City Chautauqua opening Friday July 14 and running through Monday July 31. The program features University Ladies Quartet Ed S Whitaker popular reader and entertainer and a full week of daily performances. State Juvenile band will appear along with Mrs R N Kratz as assembly organist, Mrs R B Hager overseeing the Chautauqua Circle, Stev R N Kratz guiding bible study and normal school, and Dakota University faculty member Ethan T Colton presenting a lecture.

Fifty Years Married a Golden Wedding in Ashton
The Capital editor attended the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pillen in Ashton. The Eastern Star Chapter staged a surprise with a decorated lodge room and a wedding bell arch. Edith Anderson read a fitting poem, and S. W. Bowman gave the presentation speech. The couple married June 16 1849 in North Amherst Ohio and lived in Ashton since 1882.

Reduced to the Ranks of a South Dakota Bandmaster
Bandmaster F. M. Halstead of Madison, conductor of the South Dakota regiment band, was reduced to the ranks after letters from the Philippines criticizing Col. Frost were published. The Manila authorities provided the letters to Col. Frost, Halstead did not deny authorship, and he was demoted. Local friends express regret over the incident and its outcome.

Haven't Caught the Murderer Near Armour
Hutchinson county officers still pursue S. Clark who shot his wife and daughter near Armour last week. He remains at large on the Missouri river side, chased by a posse offering a $500 reward from Governor Lee. The wife and daughter survive, though the girl’s prospects are dim. Clark, a former Mitchell resident in 1883, had prior marital troubles and tied to a divorce seeking evidence of his conduct.
