Mitchell Bryan Club Hosts Ex-Governor Lee at City Hall

Andrew BE Lee former governor addressed the Mitchell Bryan Club in a Friday evening talk at city hall. The Democratis praised his view on national politics and critiqued Governor Crawford and the state administration with strong remarks. Lee’s four years in office lent authority as he urged accountability and promised reform. He was met with hearty applause throughout his speech.

Dobson Wins Inter State Oratorical Honors at DWU

John V. Dobson of Mitchell won the inter state oratorical contest at Dakota Wesleyan University and the thirteenth Western League of Orator judges awarded him first place. League elects officers at business session

At the league business session Alvin Hansen of Yankton College is named president. Lee of the University of North Dakota is vice president. W. O. Whitcomb of Agricultural College Fargo is secretary and treasurer. The next contest will be in North Dakota at the winning college site. Manitoba and Montana may join before the next interstate contest.

Holiness group to hold camp meetings near Mitchell

The South Dakota Holiness Association bought 12 acres east of Mitchell to host annual camp meetings. A boarding house 22 by 40 feet will serve meals and provide sleeping rooms during July 17 to 25. Rev. J. E. Norvell leads preparations with Rev. B. Carradine and Rev. Arthur Snegler guiding services.
