Simpson resigns as Sioux Falls deaf school head
A reliable source reports Prof. James Simpson will not seek re election as superintendent of the Sioux Falls deaf mute school next year. He plans to devote time to private interests and the board has not yet named a successor awaiting public resignation. The board is expected to choose a capable replacement.

City Council Fixes Librarian Salary and Approves Library Work
The council set the Carnegie library librarian salary at 35 dollars per month to enable a timely appointment and to oversee interior janitor duties. Mrs H D Butterfield hosted a large group of ladies at her Lawler and Fifth streets home Thursday afternoon from 2 30 to 5 30. Miss Roxie greeted guests while Mrs Frank Putnam of Salem assisted the hostess. Conversations and music filled the rooms with pink carnations yellow roses and a smilax accent.

Miss Glen Greattrax of the University elocution department presented a chapel recital to a good audience. The performer displayed fine taste and promise as an elocutionist with a strong voice and impressive stage presence. She was aided by Misses Ewart and Lathrop with a piano duet, Miss Evenly Dilley with a solo, and Misses Ferris and McCormick in another duet.
