Washington July 18 Aside from the tariff there is little to delay adjournment of congress. Most appropriation bills are likely to pass this week and the senate recorded fast dispatch with nine of fourteen bills approved in six days. Chief hope is to adjourn by August 1 unless tariff progress stalls.

Chicago July 18 Officials of the Grand Trunk road announce a 500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Battle Creek wreck.
The Southern California branch of the Santa Fe says it will reduce its daily train mileage by 800 miles. The Overland leaving Los Angeles at 5:15 p.m. will be discontinued. The reduction follows a strike and would not have occurred otherwise.
The Iron Trade Review reports the iron trade is in a state of suspended animation due to Chicago railroad traffic edict and transportation paralysis. Production is limited across departments with strikes restricting ore, fuel shortages keeping furnaces down, and Debs dispensation hindering coal access and distribution to consumers.
Denver July 14 General A L New collector of internal revenue for this district is arranging a hunting trip in Colorado for President Cleveland and other distinguished men. The hunt may take place in the Glenwood Springs area as the mountains offer bear country.
Deputy marshals arrest John Buckley, chief of police, and William Depue in Monkeyed With Marshals. They are bound over for a week for obstructing United States marshals last Sunday. Buckley allegedly ordered marshals out of town. Depue aided in seizing arms on the bottoms. Additional arrests expected in coming days.
Men from St Paul replace striking coal handlers as about 600 are out. Northwestern Coal company builds a boarding house to protect workers from strikers. other firms plan similar housing. Small crews at work, more hired. Forty four boats await unloading at the head of the lake.
Farmers north of MaksHfield report heavy crop losses from a nocturnal worm resembling the cabbage worm. One farmer says 20 acres of grass were destroyed in two days, with timothy hay suffering the most. Ice Harbor news from Bismarck notes river and harbor bill amendments allocating funds for an ice harbor and improvements between Bismarck and Pierre.
Forest fires spread between Bradford and Kin son in the Hemlock district harming local lumbermen. Destructive blazes burn along the Western New York and Pennsylvania railroad corridor, causing significant losses.
The Field confirms that Lord Dunraven and two or three partners will build a new Valkyrie yacht to challenge for the American Cup in 1895. The announcement has circulated for weeks and centers on expanding Dunraven’s racing fleet.
