Injunction Aims to End Rail Strike Across Interstates

Chicago July 8 United States Judges Woods and Grosscup, special solicitor Edwin Walker and District Attorney Milchrist sought a broad federal injunction to stop strikers from interfering with trains and the mails. The order covers all roads and could mobilize federal marshals or regular army if needed, with Miami territory and Indiana Wisconsin courts included.

Immigration report shows drop in arrivals for 11 months

The bureau of statistics treasury department reports 11 months of the fiscal year ending May 31 with 288 020 immigrants arriving in the United States down from 480 210 last year. Poland falls from 18046 to 1879 and Italy from 62227 to 40388 while others decline similarly. During the 10 months to April 30 1894 a total of 2102 immigrants were barred.

Senator Davis Rejects Kyle Mail Train Resolution

Minnesota Senator O K. Davis replied to a Duluth railway workers telegram asking support for Senator Kyle's mail train resolution. Davis says he will not support it, calling it a blow to millions and a defense of constitution and laws against lawlessness. He warns of acts resembling levying war and urges wiser control. Also reports Debs order for AR A strike on Iron Mountain and Cotton Belt lines with passenger service only.
