County Commissioners debate over clerk hire and treasury
Retiring County Treasurer W M Smith presented a two year financial report to the County Commissioners. The books were found correct and in good shape. A dispute centers on a $240 clerk hire payment for Miss McDonald, authorized by Smith but disallowed by the board. The board offered a compromise of $40. Smith declined. Attorneys warned costs would rise if sued, and the matter may be resolved without further trouble as funds were turned over to the successor treasurer Goodykoontz.
