Two Pleasant Social Affairs Highlight Local Society

Mrs. L Beckwith hosted a Saturday afternoon salon with elocutionist Miss Harker musical numbers and table games. M B Cleminger's birthday party featured a dinner informal cards and a candle tradition with sixteen wishes for his future. The event drew a wide circle of ladies and gentlemen from the community and received praise for hospitality.

Mitchell Society Delivers Missionary Program At Church

The Women’s Foreign Missionary Society led Sunday services at the Methodist church with a varied program. Mrs A C Stevens and Mrs Boggs spoke on giving to missions, while Miss Julia Rogers read Thanksgiving Ann. A male quartet sang and the audience contributed over 12 dollars to support a small Indian girl via the Mitchell Auxiliary.

University Musical Recital Delights Mitchell Audience

Monday evening program at the university featured Miss Currens class in a strong recital. Notable solos and choruses by Noble Corwin Sage Colton and others drew generous applause while illness kept Hover from two violin items and a piano piece by Hov er. The ensemble and instructor receive high praise for a refined, well received performance.

Seeing the Elephant at Grand Opera House by Col Copeland

Col L F Copeland spoke at the Grand Opera house as the third course entertainment on the lecture series. He argued the grandest thing is a man and the most glorious is a woman, using stories and poems to critique narrow living and uplifting life’s possibilities. The audience praised the speech and manager Gale’s program, with Benjamin Chapin the next attraction on March 7.
