Col Abraham Boynton retired as Mitchell land office register after four years in office. He served under four receivers from 1894 to his departure, with high diligence and steady handling of 175,000 acres disposed and 1,185 homestead entries. The Yankton and Mitchell offices consolidated, and Yankton reservation opened to settlement.
