Alpena South Dakota February 10. A baby born to Mr and Mrs G A Schlund weighs one and three fourths pounds. Doctors say few similar cases survive and this infant is unusually strong and healthy for its age, a notable survival among the smallest newborns.
Beresford South Dakota notes ongoing revival meetings led by Rev H W Bromley and Rev A Bromley with Musical Director W H Myers. The events draw 300 to 400 converts and attract attendees from across the state including a 100 person delegation from Parker. A daily paper produced by the Republic office is a popular feature amid townwide excitement.
Wakonda South Dakota February 10 strong pressure mounts for M J Chaney to run in the forthcoming primaries. Chaney a three term state legislator including two terms as speaker of the house has built bipartisan support. He has not yet commented on the rumors. Nevada Iowa February 10 banker D A Armstrong fell from a ladder at his Zearing home and is seriously injured with a broken shoulder and internal injuries. Armstrong has deep ties to Ames Zearing and Liscomb through banking and mercantile work.
Waterloo Iowa February 10. While riding Sunday night Howard Fouch sixteen was thrown against a telephone pole in a runaway. He sustained a fractured skull which will cause his death. Henry William a companion was badly injured but will live.
Clear Lake South Dakota February 10 Ezra West and Miss Agnes Goddard and Benjamin West and Miss Minnie Goddard, brothers and sisters, were the principals in a double wedding at the Methodist parsonage. They had known each other since childhood.
Bridgewater South Dakota February 10 The Ladies' Study club hosted a home talent entertainment that raised seventy five dollars for the establishment of a public library in the city.
Yankton South Dakota city council designated February 23 for a special election to decide if the city adopts a commission form of government after receiving a large voters petition.
Missouri river development discussed by Pierre board of trade and business men. Delegates noted potential Gov Burke presence and planned waterways meeting for March 30–31. Doane Robinson highlighted 15 to 21 foot falls at Little Bend and Big Bend with 25 000 horsepower potential and cheap power for Pierre and Fort Pierre factories.
Robert Sloat 25 a ranch hand was struck as he stepped onto an adjacent track in the railroad yards while avoiding an incoming train. The right foot was crushed and amputated at mid foot at St James hotel. He is recovering but will become a county charge due to lack of funds until able to move again.
Mrs. F P Kinkler of Bryant South Dakota suffers four years of pain after a surgical instrument remained inside her abdomen. In Sioux Falls she underwent removal of the forceps and repair of her intestines and sacrum area, leaving her in critical condition after the operation.
A mass meeting has been called in Hamlin county to consider relocating the county seat, with Castlewood currently holding the seat and Hayti campaigning for central location after the railway line through the county. The historic shift from Estelline to Castlewood is recalled as background.
In Yankton South Dakota Cheries of Starry, an employee at the Kirigein cement works, was caught by the shaft and hurled around before the machine was stopped. He was unconscious but not seriously hurt. Ed Lingren suffered a two bone leg fracture from a shovel incident at the same plant. A Yankton Indian named John Blaine was bound over to district court for introducing into the reserve. Also noting the region’s health data January recorded few deaths with 26 births and 16 marriages and one divorce.
The Watertown South Dakota Industrial Association plans a citywide listing of every article manufactured or sold by Watertown firms. The effort aims to discourage residents from ordering from outside, highlighting local products and boosting home business with officers Baxter Sheare Lyon Dougherty steering the group.
Mrs A D Papin learns daughter 14 plans to wed Johan Johansen. They obtained a marriage license. a perjury warrant is sworn, Johansen arrested and later released on 400 dollar bond. Witness Landrigan who swore Leona Papin was 18 has disappeared. Hearing set for next Tuesday.
New York February 7 Gould Brokaw plans an appeal after his wife's separation suit cost him about 75 dollars in defense while alimony of 1250 dollars a month remains court ordered. The plaintiff expresses confidence and says she expects travel abroad with family pending the appeal.
A large fire in a Campbell street building housing shops gutted the old frame structure. Dozens of nonunion miners were awakened and escaped unhurt as the blaze damaged a barber shop fruit store and saloon. Loss is estimated around 15000 dollars with 10000 in insured value. Police probe ongoing into possible arson.
A Pittsburg road promoter C A Magee says he will take the Yankton Norfolk line. He plans to build a bridge across the Missouri and feed the line from an extra system of electric lines in South Dakota and extend the line into Nebraska.
A man about 60 was found dead beside the road north of the city limits. Frank Shaffer and Joe Hamm discovered the body as they traveled about 8 o clock. He lay on his right side wrapped in a fur coat with a small dug hole nearby. The coroner recorded death from cerebral hemorrhage with no signs of foul play. A dollar ninety was found on the body.
Reports from the Belle Fourche area indicate heavy snow with hay selling around fifty dollars a ton delivered, the main cost being hauling. Hauling is difficult and loads require multiple trips to move, while conditions south of Belle Fourche show improvement as much snow has melted.
Centerville reports plans by the Methodist Baptist churches to hire Evangelists Bromley and Mrs for a series of meetings from March 16 to April 8. A temporary tabernacle seating 190 people will be built, with reports of strong attendance and notable local interest from Beresford.
Vermillion South Dakota Feb 9 Carl Gun-Werson of this city returned from Washington DC where he reported on Indian allotments in this state He had worked on the Standing Rock reservation noting faster cheaper allotments than any other US reservation He was offered as general supervisor of all allotments in US reservations Headquarters to be established July 1 in the middle west Gunderson to begin first trip in two weeks visiting reservations in Oregon California Arizona New Mexico Montana and North Dakota
Deadwood South Dakota February 9 The Homestake management reports progress on resumption with two mills two hoists and nearly 500 stamps in operation Miners and shovelers are being imported from Missouri and Colorado workers arrive daily The company hopes to run near full capacity in about 30 days No union men have caused trouble and many leave the Hills rather than sign non union agreement
Rapid City lodge No 1187 was instituted at 12 o'clock with Elks from across the state. A parade of about 100 participants followed the arrival of delegations from Lead and Deadwood on a special train. Ceremonies at Terthick's opera house ran from 2 to 11 with a banquet. C H Dillon of Yankton led the events representing Exalted Ruler J U mis in nis'state.

John L. Madigan of Mason City Iowa and Miss Sadie McCarr of Elk Point were married Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father R F Salmon officiating. The Big Sioux township organization petition was granted by county commissioners and Bruneau Halliday and Shipman were named to the board of supervisors. A township election is set for the first Tuesday of March to elect officials. Richland township remains unorganized.
South Dakota representatives report the federal government will provide a site in Custer for a state tuberculosis hospital. The land is largely forestry department property, with a transfer deal under way to move land to the state for school use, making Custer the most available location this year.
John Le Baron aged 70 collapsed with heart failure while riding near Benjamin Davis's residence in Tripp county Sioux Falls reports. He fell from the horse and died within minutes after showing no prior symptoms of illness.

Dell Rapids South Dakota February 4 Rev C P Moe pastor of St Peter's Lutheran church since 1891 died at his home here of heart failure aged 61. His long service marked by steady leadership ends with his passing.
