University closes fall term as 240 enrollments leave for holidays
Graham presented prizes and urged higher achievement as the University concludes its fall term. Students departed by train with the college yell, bidding farewell to friends while many return home for holidays after diligent work and satisfactory results.

Juveniles Present Christmastide Operetta at Grand
First and second grades from west side primary schools staged Christmastide at the Grand opera house Friday under Julia Rogers and Cora Miner. Santa Claus cameo delighted attendees as about $45 was raised for the departments. Mrs. W. A. Barber accompanied.

Long distance service expands in city with new box office
F W George and staff arrived Saturday to string long distance wires in the city. They started at L O Gale’s store, where a central box office is set up for customers. George said service could reach northwest points by Wednesday evening and expect further connections locally within a month or two.

Close of the Revivals at Salvation Army Hall
After four weeks of revival meetings led by Rev. A. E. Thomson under Y M C A auspices, two large services were held at the opera house to conclude the campaign. Thomson urged a religious life while about 40 attendees pledged to improve. W H Helwig reported $170 of indebtedness incurred, with about $90 remaining unpaid. Thomson left Monday for the East to rest briefly before resuming evangelistic work.

A committee from Jay A. Smith’s company drafted resolutions dated Manila November 14 to honor Smith of Co G 1st SD Inf USW who died November 14 1898 after contracting malaria while on duty in Manila. The resolutions praise his soldierly conduct and citizenship and express sympathy to his mother and South Dakota friends. A copy is to be shared with THE MITCHELL REPUBLICAN.
