Eastern Sioux valley counties rise 6.8 percent, Jim valley 30 percent, Missouri valley above Jim 52 percent, Ventire country west of Missouri 98 percent above 1905 figures. East of Missouri and south of the 2a parallel up 7.9 percent. north of the line up 23 percent.
Colonel Thomas G. Orr of Brookings, Civil War veteran and Dakota pioneer, is rumored to be chosen to succeed Colonel J. B. Geddes at the state Soldiers' Home in Hot Springs. Orr, a board member, survived a dire illness years ago and is described as vigorous, sociable, and capable in leadership and management.
Mitchell Commercial Club discussed the Dakota Metal Granary Company plans to manufacture patent metal grain bins in the city. I O Brock outlined leasing three fourths of the Ly tle building, hiring a head machinist, booking orders, and employing 20 to 25 workers as the plant expands. The club endorsed the project and pledged support to attract outside capital and aid construction.
