In Belle Fourche S D a loaded wood wagon on a steep hill overturned trapping Luther Mason under planks. The 35 year old, who lived near Orman after moving from Missouri a year ago, died before rescue. He leaves four children and a widow.
South Dakota’s 1910 population is 583,888, up 45.4 percent from 1900, a rise larger than any surrounding state except North Dakota. North Dakota reaches 577,055 with an 80 percent gain, while Iowa Nebraska Minnesota Missouri Illinois Kansas and others show smaller increases. The census implies South Dakota will gain a third congressman, with apportionment likely around 225,000 units.
President Baldwin opened the fifth annual convention of the South Dakota Butter makers and Dairymen's Association in a city venue with a large audience.
