Dairymen and Butter Makers Meet in Mitchell Exhibition Opens

The consolidated dairymen and buttermakers association held a two day convention in Mitchell with a major butter exhibit and high prize prospects. Dairy men's convention opens with active morning session

The Morning Session of the dairy men's convention met at the opera house with President Wheaton calling the group to order at 9 30. Delegates and citizens attended as topics were debated and questions answered. Prof Henry of Wisconsin was sick and Prof McKay was snowbound, shifting speeches to the afternoon and evening.

Methodist ministers pursue 35000 for university building fund

Mitchell district Methodist ministers met at Salem for two days to oversee the centennial commission raising 35000 for a new university building. Youngman presides, Kratz treasurer, Graham secretary, aiming to raise 10000 locally and the rest statewide. The drive promises expanded campus capacity and local business benefits.

Pleasant Society Party Hosted by Mrs Rathbun

Mrs C G Rathbun entertained about thirty ladies at her home on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Guests were welcomed by Lucy Thompson and hosted by Mrs C E Vermilyea and Mrs Geo Douthit. Refreshments at six featured decorated tables with carnations and evergreens as keepsakes. Music by Mr Rathbun and two boys accompanied the serving, on piano and cornet.

Grand Work of Fred B. Smith Noted Y M C A Leader

Fred B. Smith, longtime Y M C A leader and Sioux Falls and Dubuque official turned army evangelist, earned wide fame for his work with men. A former resident of this city and son-in-law of John Colvin, he will spend next week with the local Y M C A after a career in Chicago and army assignment at Chickamauga then Cuba.

Marriage at Egan Unites Mabel Robinson and Rev. J H Olmstead

The Egan Express reports the marriage of Miss Mabel Jessie Robinson, a Mitchell newcomer, to Rev. Julian Olmstead of Tyndall South Dakota. The ceremony at the Robinson home was conducted by Rev. John Comin Des Moines with Rev. B W Burleigh Hawarden assisting. A wedding breakfast pleased guests and the couple will reside in Tyndall after December 15.

Considerable Money Distributed From Huron South Dakota Fund

A Huron special reports total receipts of 28 662 05 for the soldiers home-coming committee. Of this 2 538 from souvenir button sales, 25 191 for transportation, and 389 12 for miscellaneous expenses. About 5 619 remains to be distributed to First South Dakota regiment members who covered their own costs. E J Miller seeks all unreceived names and addresses.
