Private Wells and Sandstone Supply for City Water System
The article argues private wells tapping the upper sandstone provide the best water source for the city. It notes wells in the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad area yield up to 33 gallons per minute, with the city contemplating drilling near the James River bottoms and near the waterworks. An air lift pump and a temporary elevated tank could deliver water to the reservoir at minimal expense beyond casing and construction.
