In Beresford South Dakota on July 31 Carl Christensen age fifty hanged himself in his home. A rope was looped over a beam and discovered by farm hands during chores. Christensen had lived in the town thirty years with no stated motive or cause known.

Gasoline Explosion Flings Man Fifteen Feet in Tent
Dave Peterson master mechanic at the New York mica mine was badly burned when a gasoline stove exploded in his tent at Custer South Dakota. A gust of wind fed flames from the stove into a gasoline vessel and hurled Peterson fifteen feet. The fire destroyed all in the tent including money and a $300 gold watch.

Insensible Driver Survives Bolt as Horse Bolts Across Sioux Falls
In Sioux Falls on July 27 a lightning strike struck a frame building on Tenth Street at Phillips Avenue. James Hubbell, 18, was driving a wagon drawn by a single horse. he remained insensible briefly while the horse bolted two blocks to a bridge and the wagon hit the Tenth Street bridge. Hubbell later recovered consciousness and was carried to a blacksmith shop. the wagon suffered damage but Hubbell appeared unhurt.

Crouch Line hit by floods near Rapid City
Rapid City, July 26. The Crouch line between here and Mystic, a 39 mile short line, remains closed two weeks after floods washed it out. Heavy June high water washed out a dozen Rapid Creek bridges and left the road bed severely disrupted. The Burlington uses this line to reach Rapid City and it will be used under a Gene agreement by the Milwaukee road.
