In Deadwood South Dakota March 28 George Ingles age 73 a rancher near Galena who resisted treatment after a badly broken hand died a week later from blood poisoning. He apparently let foreign matter enter the wound and loosely bound it. He had resided near Galena for 30 years and was a pioneer. His brothers in Middleriver Minnesota have been notified to claim the remains.

Yankton South Carolina March 27 William Powers member of the state board of charities and corrections says political discussion should end regarding the penitentiary twine plant operation. He notes 200 inmates with 100 in the shirt factory which yields about 20000 dollars yearly on 7000 dollar investment and argues discontinuing farming frees 65 men to run the twine plant to its planned full capacity.
Clarence Conaway, traveling representative for a Chamberlain wholesale grocery house, narrowly escaped death while fording Crow Creek near Gann Valley South Dakota. The swollen stream swept away his buggy and horses. he clung to a submerged tree limb until a nearby farmer rescued him.
Sioux Falls S D March 27 Announcement of the death this morning for years county lagbunty and one of a ma in eastern South Da Peatly shocked the people of Sioux Falls. Death resulted from inflammtory rheumatism after an illness of only a few days. He is survived by a widow and four children two sons and two daughters. Judge Bailey for years was officially connected with the local Episcopal church. He was born in Vermont in 1838 and took up his residence in Sioux Falls in 1882. He was for years a prominent jurist and took an active part in political af fairs having filled positions of city attorney in Sioux Falls state's attorney of Minnehaha county and finally county judge.

The South Dakota county auditors met in Pierre and adjusted real estate assessments in parts of the state. Murphy of Brookings proposed taxing bank stock at 60 percent, but the proposal was rejected.
