Cattle prices strengthened this week with beef steers 16 to 20 cents higher. Most gains centered on light, handy weight steers around 1250 lbs and under. Prices ranged from 4.50 to 6.00 per cwt for prime, with various grades and canner ranges noted. Veal and stocker margins varied, with heavy cows up to 4.60 and lighter pigs and lambs trading at modest levels. Evans-Snider-Buel Co. reports the week’s sales and guidance.
