Marshall Citizen Shot in Ambush Near Home
George Lytchliter, a farmer eight miles south of Marshall, was badly wounded by gunshots in an ambush Friday evening March 7 as he returned from Marshall. He identified suspect John Davenport, a neighbor, as his attacker then fled toward Henry Jacoby’s farm for aid. Davenport was arrested on bond, with a preliminary hearing set for March 21. Lytchliter’s condition listed as steadily improving.

Governor Dockery signed the act changing circuit and criminal court dates in the Fifteenth district. Circuit court now convenes on the second Mondays in January and May and the third Monday in September. Criminal court meets on the second Monday in March July and November.
