Matthew Thornton Briggs known as Matt Briggs died at his Mt. Leonard home on March 1 1912 from tuberculosis. Born August 1 1867 he was 29 years 6 months and 17 days old. He was a son of Henry and Mollie Briggs and lifelong resident active in the Baptist church. Funeral services were held at his home on Saturday conducted by Rev. D C Bolton and he was buried at Little Grove cemetery amid heartfelt condolences from family and community.

James A. Jackson of Saline county Missouri was born February 1 1841 and died February 29 1912 at his home east of Gilliam. He married Martha E Foster on December 20 1670 and they had six children five daughters and a son who died in childhood. Surviving daughters include Mrs C P Harold of Gilliam Mrs W F Griffin of Waltman Wyoming and Mrs G Miss Jackson. He joined the Baptist church in later life.
