Mrs Margaret R Clark died at her home in Fresno on May 15 at the advanced age of 86. A sister of John Wall of Norton area she left here nine years ago. Survived by one daughter Mrs Gollady of Fresno. The obituary notes she led a long life well spent and has gone to her reward.
Edward J. Litfr, a longtime respected resident of the Blackburn area, died at his home one mile west of Blackburn on Wednesday morning May 24, 1911, at about 64 years of age. Born in Jacksonville Illinois on August 15, 1847, he moved to Missouri in the 1860s and settled on the farm where he lived until his death.
Mrs. Charles Sands of Armourdale Kansas dies at 56 9 months 3 days. Remains buried at High Hill cemetery after services by Baptist minister. Survived by husband and several children. James King dies near Blackburn at 60 3 months 17 days after pneumonia illness. Survives by wife and daughter Katie and several sons and daughters. Funeral at Springs cemetery attended by many friends. note by editor praising King as a good citizen.
Philip Casebolt died at a Fresno hospital on May 17 and was buried in Exeter, his former home, on Friday. He was brother to Ed S. Casebolt and A. J. Casebolt and Mrs Polly Erwin, all long residents who died in the past five years, and to Mrs John Farrell of California. He was the last of a large family instrumental in early development. Born in Lee County Virginia in 1842, he moved to Saline County Missouri in 1844 with his parents, who settled near Miami. At 17 he joined a store in Miami, later leaving for other pursuits.
The fragmentary text recalls a man who died in 1873 and mentions his second wife Celia Graves of Saline County whom he married December 25 1879. It notes years in California and a drug business venture.
Arthur M Moore aged 48 cigarmaker for Glen Peterson died Saturday at 4 p m in his room above Franklin's store after a year with consumption. Peter son W H Nichols Charley Howard and the Eagles cared for him providing food and a nurse and arranged burial at Ridge Park cemetery Sunday afternoon. Rev J E Cortner led the grave service. he had no close relatives.
James W. Kent, longtime resident 5 miles east of town, died Friday at 6 0 a m age 77 of cirrhosis. Survived by eight children including J L Kent W Kent Mrs Davie Marshall and Mrs Mary Brown. A Christian church member and Civil War Union veteran, funeral Saturday at one o'clock at Shiloh cemetery conducted by Rev B T Wharton. Burial followed with body carried to the cemetery per his request.
FRANK WATSON who moved to Kansas City four or five years ago died there Friday at about fifty. He was formerly street commissioner here and had many friends who will regret his death. He belonged to several lodges here which sent floral offerings for his funeral.
James R Neville, aged 68, died at his North Jefferson home Tuesday night of kidney trouble after years of illness. Born in Clark County Virginia and moving to Missouri 43 years ago, he married Mollie Ervine on Feb 26, 1872. Survived by wife, six children, and a wide circle of friends, with sons Colonel and Percy due home this morning for funeral planning. Burial is expected Saturday afternoon.
Mrs Elizabeth Berger died at home in Slater on Tuesday at age 99 years and 4 months. She was married to Tolbert Berger and leaves family in the area. Her death closes a long life marked by local ties and community presence.
Governor Hadley arrived by Missouri Pacific train and visited Hotel Ruff before attending the Stewart Chapel class day exercises. He spoke on education, praised Missouri's universities, urged public duty by educated leaders, and warned against commercialism influencing government. The event drew attendees from across the county and featured the Parker Band.

He led anti saloon efforts and kept Grace church open daily. Rev J E Abbott returned from Louisville after two weeks at the General Assembly meeting. Union services begin next Sunday at 5 p.m. on the First Presbyterian lawn.
The annual Elk Lick fox hunt drew about 1500 attendees despite dry weather. It was a socially successful event with many ladies among the visitors. No prizes were awarded.
The assault case against Chas. Cheney and Jerry King in Chillicothe was postponed to September 4 as the prosecuting attorney could not attend. J.T. Daniels vier, Henry Calvert and Iph traveled over from an unspecified location.
Lincoln School closed a successful year with a pleasing program at the Opera House Frinight. Graduates include Thurman Ieston, Pearlie Mae Collins, Lucy Nichols, Roy Watson, and Mattie B Wright. Prof C G Williams of Boonville presented the diploma, praising the school and its 25 year principal Kenner for steady leadership and service.
J F Woolery of the Milton Cramer farm near Blackwater learned by message that his son J W Woolery had died in Butler Missouri. He traveled there and found the body prepared for shipment. it arrived home Monday afternoon amid mention of friends and a letter stating he was with a construction crew. The fragmentary report notes a conveyed death and unclear subsequent details.
The large class of thirty nine graduated at the high school closing on Thursday night May 25. Dean C. M. Sharp of Sus Miss Bible College gave the class oration on The First Principles of a Successful Life. Diplomas were presented by Superintendent Thompson with Dorcas Johnston and Dorothy McCullough assisting. Wanters orchestra provided music and a Junior class banquet followed in the gym. The term was praised as one of the most successful and peaceful years, credit to Superintendent Thompson, Principal Meador, and the teachers.

Missouri Valley College held a multi day commencement program at Stewart Chapel with music and expression events led by Professors Vawter and Biddle. Governor Hadley delivered the class oration and was awarded the Doctor of Laws and Letters.
