Miss Maggie Halsey of Chickaska I T died suddenly January 3 at her father L M Wingfield’s home in Herndon after a holiday visit. Funeral and burial at Hozy Grove Friday. Warren Graves, a former Marshall resident, died last Friday in East Marshall of diabetes. survived by a 4 year old son. funeral by Eagles with Dr C H Briggs sermon. late home in Pittsburg Kansas. An inmate of Missouri Colony died Sunday of consumption. body sent to Kirksville Tuesday. Isbell, pioneer of Baline county, died at 89 after a lingering illness. married three times, survived by three children. William H Boggs, 4 month old son of Mr and Mrs John W Boggs of Little Rock, died January 7. services at Fish Creek church. burial in Fish Creek cemetery.

Good-will Sold and Plant for Sale in Saline County

The Saline County Index reports that after three months the publication venture failed financially. Owner McCormack of Gilliam, aged 83, sold the entire subscription lists and good will to the Democrat News of this city. He notes the plant was acquired at a low price and wishes successors well, praising Col. Horne for his quick decision.

Cattle prices trend higher with steers $4.25 to $5.00 and heifers $3.50 to $4.75, cows $3.00 to $4.00, canners $2.00 to $2.75. Market remains firm overall. Fire destroys Columbus Buggy Co building in Kansas City

A three story brick building housing the Columbus Buggy Co Bank of Commerce Kimball Piano Co and others was burned early last Friday morning causing an estimated 200000 in damages. Fire officials said the blaze began in the three story structure and swept through the upper floors before being brought under control. No fatalities were reported and the cause was under investigation.
