Old Age Security pension rises in October 1977
Health and Welfare Minister Marc Lalonde announced increases to the Old Age Security pension the Guaranteed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance effective October 1977. The single rate with maximum supplement will total 255.94 monthly. married couples will receive 488.24. The basic pension rises to 150.43 and the GI Supplement for a single person or married with non pensioner spouse rises to 105.51, with married couples up to 93.69 each. Spouse's Allowance maximum increases to 244.12, totaling 488.24 for a couple.
