Farmers seek a quick selling rye crop as Manitoba distilleries increase use. Recommended fall rye varieties include Cougar Frontier Antelope with Frontier offering shorter straw higher yield potential. Sow from mid August to September 15 on summer fallow. fertilizer needs mirror wheat 20 30 pounds phosphorus and 0 20 pounds nitrogen, with more nitrogen on stubble. Two fertilizer trials exist in Stan Henry and Ed Higgins fields Beulah. Dehorners in the office are available free but should be returned.

The Miniota community center hosted a miscellaneous shower for Linda Armitage and her marriage to Bill Schrader of Plumas on August 17. Guests enjoyed accordion music by Tom Ellerington, a rhymed greeting by Mrs. Roy Currie, and gifts from a Glenlochar school replica carried in by Olive Ann Argue. Linda and Bill thanked friends and invited visits to Miami where they will teach. The event included a buffet pot luck supper and warm best wishes from Glenlochar residents.
