Manitoba opens upland game season in extreme north on September 5 and The Pas Flin Flon area on September 12 with six birds per day and 18 in possession for ruffed and spruce grouse. Former Marquette MP Mandziuk Dies in Winnipeg Hospital
J Nicholas Mandziuk 64, Progressive Conservative MP for Marquette from 1957 to 1968, died at Winnipeg General Hospital. Born in Ukraine and educated in Manitoba, he was a teacher, lawyer, and insurance broker. Prayers were held at Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Cathedral with interment at Glen Eden Cemetery. Survived by wife Mary, son Ollie, two daughters Sonja and Darcia, six grandchildren, and brother William.

Grant supports Manitoba study on emotional disorders in children
Winnipeg Manitoba grants totaling 2700 dollars were given by Education Minister Saul Miller to the Commission on Emotional and Learning Disorders in Children. The national three year study, now in its final year, involves seven national voluntary organizations and one international partner. Each province contributed funds and aided fact finding on facilities and programs, with an expected report featuring new methods to address disorders. The commission estimates 10 to 20 percent of school age children have these disorders, including childhood schizophrenia, cerebral palsy victims, culturally disadvantaged youths and reading disabilities.

Mrs. Barnes spent the weekend in Crandall with Mrs. Kolac. A 12 person card party was hosted by Mrs. Lena Henderson on Wednesday evening. Mary Foxton visited Mrs. Edith Foxton this weekend. Visitors to Mrs. Gardham included Mrs. Ford Wiggins of B C, Mrs. McKay of Balcarres, Frank Johnson of Winnipeg, Mrs. Morrow, Mrs. F. Watters and Linda of Arrow River, and Shirley Beaton of Elphinstone. At Mrs. Catto's home were L. Dickie and boys from North Vancouver, R. Hunter of Saskatoon, Mrs. E Beggs of Weyburn, E. Stewart of Shoal Lake, E. Gurr of Brandon, J. Stewart of Vancouver.
